A little bit about me and my approach to therapy...
My clients have described me as caring, approachable and insightful. My sessions often include a healthy dose of both honesty and humor. The therapeutic relationship has been shown to be one of the most important factors in successful therapy and it is my goal to develop a strong and nurtured bond with each of my clients. This means that I am committed to providing each client with a safe, comfortable place where you can feel free to explore even the most challenging parts of your experience.
My own life story has led me down several twists and turns on the path to motherhood, a committed relationship and career that I love. As a result of my own experience, I hold a personal understanding of what it means to struggle and what it feels like to call upon our own inner courage. My life challenges, including issues related to fertility, postpartum and parenthood, have deepened and strengthened my belief in the power of self-compassion, mindfulness and empathy. I do this work because I believe in the power of this work and I feel so honored to bear witness to each client's story of strength and struggle.
I strive to stay open, curious and willing to learn and to provide a space where all people feel welcome. I believe in social, racial and economic justice. I feel inspired by the resiliency and courage of my clients, the endless curiosity and creativity of my children, the smell of the woods and my compassionate and wise teachers, friends and family.
I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Washington (#LH60297089). I hold a Master’s of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University; Seattle, WA and a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Puget Sound; Tacoma, WA. In addition to my private practice, I have had the opportunity to work in a community mental health setting serving adults dealing with a variety of concerns including relationship issues, stress at work, depression, anxiety, sleeping problems, eating disorders, psychotic symptoms, post-traumatic stress disorder and early childhood trauma. I continue to engage in clinical training in a number of areas including mindfulness, self-compassion and trauma.
